Vile internet trolls have cruelly attacked a plus size model and branded her a “whale”.
The curvy model, known as Anna O’Brien, stars in an online promotion by razor brand Gillette.
In the image, which was shared on Twitter, the model is seen standing proudly in a cute two-piece bikini with her hands raised in the air.
The plus-size star also has her mouth wide-open as the snap is captioned: “Go out there and slay the day… Glitter + Lazers”.
However, while Gillette Venus were hoping the inclusive image and show of body positivity would help promote their razors, it had a very different effect.
Twitter users responded to the image with negativity and slammed the company for “promoting obesity”.
One fat-shamer poisonously said: “I love that Gillette is saving the whale. @peta should get involved with this campaign.”
A second person added: “This post gave my phone diabetes” and “Imagine how many razors she goes thru”.
Another tweeted: “Please stop. Promoting this is dangerous. Being unhealthy is not a good thing.”
One woman explained in detail the effects of being overweight, tweeting: “Wow, this is so unhealthy! Obesity causes cardiovascular diseases, type 2 Diabetes, sleep apnea, depression & certain types of cancer and death.
“Why would you show younger girls a picture like this? Another reason not to purchase your products!”
Following the barrage of abuse, Gillete Venus put a statement which read: “Venus is committed to representing women of all shapes, sizes and skin types because ALL types of beautiful skin deserve to be shown.
“We love Glitter + Lazers (Anna’s social media name) because she lives out loud and loves her skin no matter how the ‘rules’ say she should display it”.
